NCLB/SES SERVICES
As a provider of NCLB/SES services, Academic Tutoring assists schools and districts achieve their goals.
We realize that most schools labeled "failing" by the federal government have been mislabeled. In fact, most of these schools have only one or two sub-groups that are in need of improvement, and because of this, the entire school is labeled as failing; we don't agree!
Our approach is different: we believe in re-training your already talented faculty in order to align your existing curriculum to state standards. To be frank, classroom teachers are not trained in effective test taking strategies. We re-train your teachers, giving them the tools for success. In the end, everyone wins: the students learn needed skills; the teachers maintain their current curriculum with newly learned strategies; and administrators brag about their school's rising scores!

Grayslake Community High School District 127 has had an ongoing relationship with Academic Tutoring Center that began in October, 2002. Our collaboration with Academic Tutoring Center will continue through the 2006-2007 school year and beyond.
District 127 has had an extremely positive experience with Jim Giovannini and Academic Tutoring Centers. In 2002, we began by simply contracting with them to provide an after school PSAE test preparation program. However, because of their effectiveness and level of professionalism, we have expanded our collaboration with them to include delivery of professional development to our teaching staff, consultation with administrators regarding academic programs, and development of skill review and test preparation materials.
I can say without hesitation, that Academic Tutoring Center has had a tremendously positive impact on our district, schools, teachers, and most importantly, our students. In the after school program, District 127 students have direct contact with Academic Tutoring Center staff. The average ACT composite score increase for students in this course last year was four points. This is an extraordinary achievement. These students also reported a high level of satisfaction with the rigor of the after school course.
Our collaborative efforts with Academic Tutoring Center have also been beneficial to our students. During the 2005-2006 school year, District 127 teachers delivered a test prep and skills review program developed by Academic Tutoring Center. After our students were exposed to this in-school program, our composite ACT average increased five tenths of a point.

Academic Tutoring Centers has provided an invaluable service to our Maine West students. For the past few years, we have relied on Academic Tutoring Centers to better prepare our juniors for the ACT and PSAE exams that the state requires.
The juniors who have been in the Academic Tutoring Center's ACT preparation classes have all benefited from the program. We have seen incredible gains across the board for those who have taken the courses and our students and parents have all expressed their satisfaction with the amount of preparation they received, the type of tutoring they received, and the results they saw on their tests.
We are pleased to offer this service to our students and encourage all of our juniors to take part in ACT tutoring sessions. Academic Tutoring Centers provide this service to our Maine West students and we have not been disappointed.

We have worked with Academic Tutoring Centers for three years. They have coordinated and implemented our ACT review class for juniors. They started the program in the winter of 2004. We will be again having them this winter, 2007. We have been extremely satisfied with the results. Their teachers were very professional. We have been very pleased with the results our students have attained. I think they do an excellent job of preparing our students for the ACT test. Another plus is that they present you with a report after the ACT so you can see how the students have improved from their first practice test to the actual ACT.
